You will need to use the character codes for some special characters so they don't clash with html or PHP. You can find all special characters at w3.org, but I have listed some of the most common below.
| Symbol | Code | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| ‘ | ‘ | left single quotes |
| ’ | ’ | right single quotes |
| “ | “ | left double quotes |
| ” | ” | right double quotes |
| « | « | left angled quotes |
| » | » | right angled quotes |
| £ | £ | pound sign |
| € | € | euro sign |
| & | & | ampersand |
| ' | ' | apostrophe |
| | non-breaking space |
N.B. Do not use ' for apostrophes. It only works in some browsers.
